From Fabrication to Installation

Archimedes Granite will come to your home or business location to measure and and make "template" patterns. This means we actually measure your cabinets, correct for non-right-angled corners and uneven walls, and dedicate specific areas for sinks, stove tops, and faucet openings. Arrangements for removing existing counter tops can be made prior to our templating.

Once you have picked your granite slabs, they are delivered to our fabrication location. Slabs can vary in size from just a few square feet to over 6 by 10 feet in size. We look at them for pattern and striations and, using the templates, set up the most efficient and eye-appealing cutting guidelines for your project.

The slabs are cut into their rough shapes and sizes. We then embed stainless steel rods in strategic areas on the underside of the granite or marble to give strength and prevent cracking.

Once reinforcement is completed, we begin the shaping of the edge details. The pieces in the photo on the right have a full-bullnose edge. For more on edge details or profiles, click here. Detailing edges can be the most time-consuming part of fabrication. Depending on the thickness of the slab and the detail desired, it may require laminating edge pieces to the counter top before shaping. We work with the stone to make sure that there is continuity between the top and edges of each piece.

When the job is ready for installation, our crew arrives and brings the new system into your home or business. Meticulous care is taken so neither the new pieces nor existing furnishings are damaged in any way.

This is where setting the seams is of utmost importance. Most counter top systems are large enough that seams are necessary. Archimedes Granite works to make sure that there is always a flow from piece to piece and that seams are as "invisible" as possible. Because we are working with a natural product with variations in patterns, complete invisibility is not a possibility.
