We went along with one of our favorite clients to pick out granite for her kitchen counter tops.
These are some of the pointers she had for anyone going on their first granite yard adventure:
If you can, have an idea of general likes and dislikes in terms of color, boldness or subtleness and lightness or darkness. For more help please see our Samples Page.
Take a camera if you can and make sure to photograph the name of the stone on a large piece of paper along with the photo of the actual stone. This step can save you lots of time and frustration later on.
Take down pertinent information.
You'd be surprised how much you can forget after you look at a dozen different slabs and/or three dozen sample pieces. You can always ask the salesperson at the granite yard for approximate square-foot prices. Some of the design information you might want to note:
Types of striations or markings (wavy lines, "chunky" spots of color, "small mottling", etc.) present on slab(s).
Type of finish on stone (high polish, medium gloss, matte finish, etc.).
Main colors and tones present in the stone (ie. "golden hue", "high contrast", etc.).

We will help you find the perfect granite or marble for your home or business!
We can set up appointments for you to visit local granite yards and will ensure that your visit is a pleasant, productive one. We are also more than happy to work with your interior designer.
